The Gospel Of John (Overview)

Count Your Blessings

The Apostle John wrote his Gospel much later than the other three gospels were written; sometime between a.d. 80 and 95. He was living in Ephesus at the time. John had a special purpose in writing his version of the Gospel. New “believers” in Jesus were entering the churches and they were introducing heresies among the church members. The worst of these was that Jesus was not the Son of God, but was a man like everyone else. John’s purpose was to show that we must believe in the words of Jesus and in his deity. He goes to great lengths to describe the spiritual qualities in Jesus’ life and His great power.
