Temple of the Bearded Man

Temple of the Bearded Man

Location
:  Chichen Itza (chee-chen eet-zah), Yucatan

Description:  There is a small temple at the north end of the ball court in Chichen Itza now named “The Temple of the Bearded Man”.  There is a carving of a bearded man on the temple.  “This carving of the bearded Quetzalcoatl is found on the back wall of the small temple”. [20]  This bearded man does not resemble other carvings of men found at Mayan sites, but does resemble Jesus Christ (Quetzalcoatl).  This person was apparently important enough to be included on the temple wall.
