Book of Mormon Plates
Location: “Hill Cumorah” in Palmyra, New York
Description: The Book of Mormon makes mention of plates on which various records of the people were engraved:
1 Nephi 1:61 – “For behold, Laban hath the record of the Jews, and also a genealogy of my forefathers, and they are engraven upon plates of brass.”
1 Nephi 5:218 – “And it came to pass that the Lord commanded me, wherefore, I did make plates of ore, that I might engraven upon them the record of my people.”
Mosiah 5:64 – “And for a testimony that the things that they have said are true, they have brought twenty-four plates, which are filled with engravings; and they are of pure gold.”
The plates, from which the Book of Mormon was translated, were provided to Joseph Smith Jr. in Palmyra, New York at Hill Cumorah.
