Human Sacrifice at El Tajin

Human Sacrifice at El Tajin

Location
:  Ball court at El Tajin (tahin) in Veracruz, Mexico

Description:  The Lamanites in the Book of Mormon practiced human sacrifice on at least one occasion.  This is noted in the following Book of Mormon verses:  “… and did take many prisoners, of women and of children, and did offer them up as sacrifices unto their idol gods.” – Mormon 2:16.  Also, “And when they had come the second time, the Nephites were driven and slaughtered with an exceeding great slaughter; their women and their children were again sacrificed unto idols.” – Mormon 2:23.  This wicked practice was performed by various ancient people groups (including the Lamanites) in Central America.
