Description: Many archaeologists believe that horses did not exist in the Americas between 2200 B.C and 400 A.D. (the timeline in the Book of Mormon), yet the Book of Mormon mentions the use of horses in the new land 11 times. Interestingly, we find that “In the ancient Mayan city of Chichen Itza there is a building – called the Sweat Bath – which contains in an outer wall a stone with a striking carving. Although the limestone has been badly eroded, the carving shows an animal which is undoubtedly a horse. That this horse is domesticated is demonstrated by the fact that a man is shown in conjunction with it.” [18] Note that the man appears to be riding the horse.
